I bought this for my sons,3&5 years old. They love it, and in all honesty, so do I, my partner and our girls...Apart from being a bit flimsy at times, with care the track is fun, fast and exciting!
The ships seem to fly round until they crash or fly off at a corner...
10/10!!!

This is the 2nd Scalextrix I have bought as a main Xmas present and unfortunately had to return this one as well as a Cars one last yr. My son was looking forward to his scalextrix Star Wars but as it would not work, had to dissapoint again and go through the hassle of returning this big box. However, Amazon have dealt with my returns speedily and refunded my money. Unable to rate the product poperly. 3.0 out of 5 stars The force is missing with this one, 6 Jan 2013

I got this set for Xmas for my son as it was being sold at a decent price. We've played with it a few times since Xmas, and I've been more than a little disappointed with it.To start off with, the track doesn't really fit well, which means it's difficult to get more than 5 laps before some part of the track comes loose. You can see from the box that the track is intended to incline and decline, however this is achieved by holding up the flat track pieces with little "bridges" (don't even bother trying with the box). Since the track pieces are all flat, it doesn't take long for them to come loose. Couldn't the manufacturer have provided track parts which incline? Even the Take-Along Thomas (the Tank Engine) range has these kind of track pieces.
My second gripe is that one of the "cars" which came in the set had a problem. I guess that I may just have been unlucky here, but trying to race when one of the cars is much slower than the other isn't much fun. I managed to fix it, but it still gets stuck every now and again.
It's a pity, because there is definitely potential here for a great product and a lot of fun. As long as the track holds together, its great fun having the x-wing and tie-fighter chase each other round the track until one or the other gets knocked off (or runs off). There is definitely a cool factor about it which means that kids will probably enjoy it anyway.
All that being said, you'd probably be better off spending your money on another set.

What a surprise that a collaboration between scalextric and Star Wars could be such a disappointment. The x-wing and ti-fighter couldn't pass each other on the track, limiting the play options to a chase only, no matter how carefully we adjusted the bridge supports the flyover did not go high enough for the ships to pass underneath, and the track lost power on two of the corners... Really disappointed on Christmas morning...thank goodness for Lego! 4.0 out of 5 stars Star Wars Fun, 1 Jan 2013

I was a little unsure about buying this for my grandsons as past experience of Scalextric was one of frustration as the cars constantly shot off the track. However, this was great as the two models raced round and stayed on really well. A big success with the boys. The only drawback was that the vehicles don't pass each other - they aim to knock the other off the track. Then again, the boys seemed to prefer this! 5.0 out of 5 stars Brill buy!, 1 Jan 2013

Its a highly entertaining game, 4 generations played this Chrimbo Day, the youngest at 4yrs old (nephew who I bought it for) oldest being my Grandad at 98! Fab way to get a laugh with sibling rivalry going! I won, by the way ;-) 1.0 out of 5 stars Scalextric should be ashamed, 29 Dec 2012

Everything about this product is very poor. Read the other 1 star reviews for the details - I agree with all comments. Please don't waste your money on this, there are far far better options. 1 of 2 people found the following review helpful

I purchased this set for my 6 yr old son for christmas. Quality of this product is awful, cheap and not well made at all. Difficult to set up in as much the track doesn't sit as tight as it should when track design is in place and as such racers are jolty because the electric circuit is not being fully made. Bridge section of track is badly designed, track supports not big enough to raise track enough for racers to go under the bridge. Tried the suggestion in the instructions of using the box as part of the track, this is a waste of time, doesn't fit correctly and racers don't pass in and out of the box as they should do.I was a Scalextric mad kid and had a full size set and never had any issues, track and cars were robust and was great fun. Micro Scalextric and in particular this set is just cheap and nasty and I can only assume it sells because of the Star Wars branding.
I highly recommend that you do not purchase this, unless it's for sale for 10 pounds, because that's all it's really worth.
Dreadfully disappointed as was my son.
