LEGO Architecture 21006: The White House

Product Overview

Located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C., the White House has been at the heart of American history for over two centuries and today is one of the most recognizable buildings in the world. It is a grand mansion in the neoclassical Federal style, with details that echo classical Greek Ionic architecture. The architect's original design was modeled after the Leinster House in Dublin, Ireland and did not include the north and south porticos.

The White House has a total of six floors; a two-story basement, the Ground Floor, State Floor, Second Floor and Third Floor. There are 132 rooms, 35 bathrooms, and 6 levels in the White House. There are also 412 doors, 147 windows, 28 fireplaces, 8 staircases, and 3 elevators.

The exterior of the White House was expanded to include two colonnades in 1801. Further additions include the South portico in 1824 and the North portico in 1829. Today, the porticos connect to the East and West Wings. The West Wing was added to the house in 1901, with the Oval Office added to the wing in 1909. The East Wing was added in 1942.

Really pleased with this item. Bought for older son who loved it. Quite challenging and looks really good when put together. Thank you.

I received this as a gift and it took me about 2.5 hours to build. I haven't built anything Lego since I was a child so it was a bit of challenge to remember what to do! It's quite fiddly and a lot of the pieces are similar colours so probably not great for the short sighted. This is a great model to display but I'd say it probably wouldn't be a very fun toy (it's also not to scale with the Lego people). I got it as a gift because I study politics, so I'd say it makes a good present for anyone with an interest in government who is also patient as it takes a while to build. If I'd got this as a child I don't know how exciting I'd have found it but I think it's incredibly cool as an adult!

We bought this for an 8 year old boy who is really into Lego. He built in within a day but he loves it. It was a bit smaller than we thought it would be but definitely recommend it for any keen lego fan.

This was fun to build and looks just like the white house. Not too difficult to build but it is a bit smaller than i thought it would be so some of the pieces are small and fiddly.

My teenage son grew up on legos. So what do you get a nearly grown up kid who would still quite enjoy putting together a lego on Christmas morning? The White House was a huge hit! And yes, I plan to get more of the lego architecture kits. My son now knows what the Guggenheim is and we don't live in New York!

This Toy? is OK. That is all I would rate it. We were disappointed to find the contents of the box were very small and not quite what was expected. Although it was relatively difficult to assemble it wasn't of the difficulty we were expecting as it was bought for a 10 year old who put it together very quickly. It has limited play ability and is only a visual experience for a short while before it becomes boring. Quite what we expected I don't know but the size of the play kit is certainly vry disappointing and has no relativity to other Lego projects so once built - no other thing to do with it. I don't consider it worth the money really and although good design it doesn't match for size with some of the other Architecture models. They seem to be a bit of a muddled up lot. No English buildings are available - such a shame.

My son aged 10 years loved this surprise for his birthday and has re-built it many times, either according to the instructions, or adding his own design elements! Though it's stated as 12+ yrs, he could easily manage it, as he's an avid lego fan! Instructions are very clear and easy to follow!

Present for 12 year old who loved building it. Looks fabulous once built. You are never too old for lego and it lasts for ever and ever. Always great value for money.
