Welcome to the exciting world of Scalextric Digital. This set allows you to race up to four cars at the same time (two cars are provided), performing amazing, realistic overtaking and braking manoeuvres. You can switch lanes at the touch of a button to overtake or block your opponent. This set includes everything you need to get started with Scalextric Digital - it features a large circuit and comes supplied with two Digital Chip installed cars. Additional digital cars are available or you can easily convert most standard cars to run on digital layouts. The super resistant Jaguar XKR racers feature easy change pick-ups and the Magnatraction system to help them stay on the circuit. Four cars can be raced simultaneously using the powerbase provided in the set or upgrade to the Advanced Six Car Digital Powerbase (C7042) for six car races plus a host of additional features. Digital layouts are fully compatible with standard Scalextric track pieces.

We bought the set this Christmas for all of our family to enjoy, and that's exactly what they did! Our Christmas family ranged in ages from 16 months to 58 (me!!) and even our little Grand-daughter (16 months) was able to get the car around the track (in true kangaroo style) after watching everyone else getting fully involved. I must add that we had extended the set with the Ultimate Extension Pack, lap counter, side-swipe track, two extra cars and controllers, and these really added to the fun. However, this basic set I'm sure would still give a lot of fun. My four year old Grand-son has his own mini-Scalextric, so he was one of the better drivers over the last few days, completing laps at what appeared to be lightning speed, and staying on the track! The two Jaguars included are not too fussy, that is they don't have a lot of bits to brake off - we have lost just one passenger door mirror which is pretty impressive as both cars ended up in the Christmas tree on a regular basis. The switching tracks are very impressive which was my main reason for buying a digital set, and that you can run four cars from the 4-way control unit - fantastic fun. If you're going to buy a Scalextric set I would thoroughly recommend digital, and this one is great value for money.

A superb kit and great value too.
Has kept my boy and me busy for hours since Christmas.
Don't buy second hand ones on ebay, go new. You'll be better off in the long run.

My wife bought this for christmas for me I^m 62, it knocks years off you its brilliant.I wish I had one when I was younger.

This toy is excellent. Forget the older days with the cars constantly coming off the track this does not happen with this set. Yes you do need throttle control but the cars whizz along at a great rate and stay on the track. I am so glad that we spent the extra money and got the digital set rather than analogue as the play value is so much better.
The 7 year old and the 56 year old (Big Child) absoutley love it. Would recommend this set to anyone thinking about buying a Scalextric set.

This item arrived unpackaged: no box, no jiffy bag, no bubble wrap, nothing. The shipping label and the 'Documents enclosed' envelope were stuck directly to the box, which was completely bound up with parcel tape (including the carry handle). The box was (of course) damaged.

Customer services were lovely: they arranged next-day collection of the item and delivery of a replacement. The replacement arrived in the exact same condition. It looked like I'd picked it up from Oxfam.

Customer services were lovely... But said this was how it's always delivered, and if I want the item, that's the way it is.

It's completely unacceptable for Amazon to be unable to guarantee safe, intact delivery.

The toy might be great, to be fair, but as I never opened the box, it's impossible to say. But if you plan to buy this as a gift, my advice is, don't.

Bought this set for my son's 5th Birthday and it was the best thing I could have done. My son's face lit up when he opened the package and he has barely stopped playing it since.

A few words of caution on the Digital vs normal set. Do note that the number of digital ready cars is relatively low. Many of the cars are digital plug ready but that does mean you will need to but an adapter for them and they are not that cheap (though easily available on Amazon).

In terms of track, most of the track sets are compatible, but the sets that include a ramp jump are apparently not compatible with Digital which is a pity but hardly a deal breaker. The fact that you can change lanes back and forth adds a great extra dimension and was what sold me on the digital set which I do not regret.

Overall, a great buy and highly recommended.

Purchased this set Scalextric Digital C1275 Race Line 1:32 Scale Race Set , as a Christmas present, for my 9 year old son. Went the digital route because of the potential added fun of being able to run more than 2 cars at once. It has provided not only my son with a lot of pleasure but also fun for my daughter (11) and me. A third car has since been purchased, which means lots of racing for all 3 of us. At a pre Christmas price of at £150 it was a lot of money but I suspect well worth it as it should provide pleasure for some time to come.

It is worth noting that the cars have been involved in numerous accidents and bits (such as wing mirrors) have inevitably been broken off. And with so much use the cars need regular cleaning to remove carpet lint.

Overall though an excellent purchase.
