This toy is very educational as it shows both the physics of magnetism and kinetics. The music links it all together well and makes it the perfect BOYS toy.

The icoaster takes quite a bit of building when it first arrives. You get a comprehensive book showing 10 different possible set up options.

When it's up and running it's quite an impressive toy. It lights up and plays music and the metal balls go round. It's quite addictive and relaxing to watch. You can turn the lights/music down or off if required.

I think it will also take an ipod connection so you can listen to your own music instead of what's pre-recorded.

The metal balls are the same as the ones you get with Magnetix toys so if you lose them under the sofa most boys will have spares anyway.

Be careful re the child's age - my son is 8 and loves it - I reckon it might not be suitable below 6 years of age or for boys who break things easily.

we all enjoyed building this but it does take up space so make sure you have room its a pity it is not mains operated

This product (it wouldn't be fair to call it a "toy") is a scream and my 7-year old boy has got a lot of fun out of it since receiving it for Xmas. The instructions can seem a little confusing but we're happy to make our own routes if we get lost somewhere. The sound effects and music also add to the enjoyment. Great to see something out on the market that pushes all the right 'fun' and 'educational' buttons at the same time.

Bought this for my 12 year old son and he'd built the first run in less than 30 minutes. Everyone sat round and played with it - 18 year old, 9 year old daughter and the cats! My son rated this as a 10/10 and has spent weeks building his own designs. Two friends knocked for him to go out on their bikes last weekend and while they waited for him to get ready they played on his new marble run. Hence, they were all still here playing with it 3 hours later with the mp3 plugged in to it on full volume. Gets knocked over easily when left in the hallway, but fun to rebuild, redesign and well worth the money.

My 6 1/2 year old son got this for Christmas after seeing ads of simlar toys on TV and putting on his wish list. He sat with his dad putting it together, learning what the instruction was showing. The next day he managed follow the instruction to make another verion. My son has a great interest in building toys like lego etc, and he is good at following the instructions. For kids that like building things by following instructions its an excellent toy and educational too.

Takes a bit of getting used to but once you understand the system it is easy to put together. The layouts suggested in the instructions don't all work perfectly - balls come off occasionally but that becomes part of the fun. Three little boys 5, 4 and 2 love playing/watching/sabotaging with it and dancing to the music.

This has been really fun and easy to build - don't really need the instructions, just your imagination. My 5 year old son absolutely loved it, and as it was his only 'big' present for Christmas from me, I was really relieved that it gave him so much entertainment.

I bought this for my 8 year old daughter and she LOVES it !!
At first the instructions are a little complicated to follow, but once you have got your head round it, it is not a problem. It was fascinating to watch once complete and then we were ready to make another design (and another and another)
Comes with a book of the different coasters you can build. You can attach your MP3/I-POD to it, but don't be put off if you don't have one as it comes with its own beat box. It's marble run on another level !!!! ! FANTASTIC !
